Moonrise Gingdom

March 2015

More visitors to Jinja Island! First up, I played host to Jess from Canada, Antony from the UK and their mate Chris from Australia. Jess and Antony work on board the Nomad, the floating bar and restaurant at Red Frog Marina, while Chris is helping work on the sail boats over there.

While Antony and Chris drank on the boatdock, Jess and I worked together on helping Campesino conquer his fear of the water, (with a little help from sausages!).

Then came over CouchSurfers Polly and Franky from Hong Kong, dropped off by my lovely neighbour Lynn.

Lindsey’s uncle Michael came to stay for a couple of days. We discussed what I’m planning to do with the island. I can’t quite believe that I’m almost through my year here… it’s gone too fast! I’m thinking of making Ian, Jinja Island’s current co-owner, an offer he can’t refuse.

We will see!

Towards the end of the month, more mates from the UK, Gavin and Gemma, came to stay. They’re gold-star backpackers (and Glasto veterans), much like myself, and their enthusiasm for the island and living off-grid was infectious.

Bodes well for the future of Jinja… 😁
