October 2015
As October rolled around I had to get my head into gear, make the Jinja Island house good enough for people to live in and get a publisher for the book(s) of my journey to every country in the world. It was ALL SYSTEMS A-GO-GO!
One of my Facebook friends, Jared, got in touch saying he could help. I didn’t know him directly, but he had followed my travels. Unlike all the agents I had spoken to, he liked my idea of writing three books about my travels. Also, he’s the brother of Marvel comic book legend Brian Michael Bendis, creator of Jessica Jones and Miles Morales.
I hope you know by now that I like to work hard and play hard. Between my days of working on the house, the walkway, the boatdock, cutting the grass and fettling the boat and my nights of writing like a maniac, I still found time to party with my fellow Bocanauts.
Greg, the co-owner of the Mundo Taito backpackers, had never been over to Jinja, so we decided to fix that terrible oversight. Together with his mates Robin from Sweden and Micko from Australia, we travelled to Jinja for a night of Balboa beer, Abuelo rum, Cards Against Humanity and chili con carnage.
The next day we took the boat out to Dolphin Bay for some of Valle de los Ranas’s legendary fish tacos, and made friends with a parrot.
With my hair getting a bit long again, I opted to get it cut.
Hosted my last couple of CouchSurfers…
And at the end of the month I headed over to Bocas Town, just in time for Loco Dave’s Bookstore Halloween knees-up.
